The Bled line

Zipline Dolinka: 4 km over the Sava Dolinka

Zipline Dolinka is the one zipline of the three on this site that flies at Bled itself: four kilometres over the Sava Dolinka River on seven cables, two and a half hours, from $106. This page is what the listing actually says, and what it leaves out.

Quick answer

The short answer. Zipline Dolinka is the one line of the three on this site that flies at Bled. The listing describes four kilometres over the Sava Dolinka River on seven cables, calls it Europe’s longest zipline, and names views of Triglav National Park. It runs two and a half hours, costs $106, and holds 4.9 from 563 reviews. The two cheaper lines are real and bookable, but they fly from Bovec, in the Soča Valley.

Straight from the listing

What Zipline Dolinka actually is

Four details, read off the booking page. Where the listing is silent, this page says so rather than filling the gap.

Zipline Dolinka is sold as one outing of two and a half hours. The description gives four hard details and stops there: seven cables, four kilometres of flying in total, the Sava Dolinka River underneath, and views of Triglav National Park. Everything else on this page is either arithmetic on those numbers or a note about what is missing.

The river is what gives the line its name, and it is why people type zipline Dolinka rather than the name of the town. The Sava Dolinka runs through the valley above Lake Bled, and the cables are strung across it. A zip line at Lake Bled and a search for Zipline Dolinka land on the same single outing, because at Bled there is only one of them to book.

The operator calls it Europe’s longest zipline. Those are the operator’s words, printed on the booking page, with no measurement published beside them. The second line on this site, the one in Bovec, calls itself Europe’s biggest zipline park on its own page. Two European records, two booking pages, no evidence offered for either.

Seven cables and four kilometres is the only arithmetic the description allows: the cables average a little under 600 m each. The listing does not break the run into individual flights, and nothing says the seven are the same length, so treat that figure as a scale check rather than a specification. What it does settle is that the four kilometres are flown in seven goes rather than in one.

On money, the Bled line is the highest fare of the three and the highest cost per hour: $42.40 an hour against $30.00 for the three-hour canyon park in Bovec. What you are paying the difference for is the location, not more time on a cable.

Read this before you book

Four things the Dolinka listing does not say

These are gaps in the description, not warnings. Any of them that decides your day is a question for the operator at the time you book.

  • How high the cables run, and how fast you travel

The listing gives the length of the flying — four kilometres across seven cables — and nothing at all about height above the river or speed along it. Those are numbers to ask for, not numbers to read off a booking page. Anyone quoting them to you from this listing is quoting something that is not there.

  • Who the line is open to

No limit of any sort appears in the description: nothing on weight, nothing on build, nothing on age. Their absence from the page is not the same as their absence on the day, so if anyone in your group might be close to a limit, ask before you pay rather than at the top of the first cable.

  • Which dates it is running

The description names no months, no season and no conditions, and this page will not invent them. The live calendar on the booking page is the only honest answer to whether the Dolinka line is running on the dates you are in Slovenia.

  • What to bring and how to get there

Clothing, footwear and insurance are not mentioned anywhere in the listing, and neither is getting to the start. The whole promise of the page is one sentence about cables, a river and a view, and it is worth reading the booking page itself for the practical lines the description leaves out.

Not at Bled

Where the other two lines actually fly

The $90 and $78 fares on this site both belong to Bovec, not to Bled. Worth knowing before you compare them with the Bled line.

Two of the three ziplines on this site are not at Bled at all. Both start from Bovec, in the Soča Valley, about 100 km from the lake, and getting to either one is its own journey rather than an afternoon out from town.

The busier of the two is the canyon park at Bovec: ten cables of 250 to 600 m, flying 200 m above the Učja canyon, a hanging bridge partway through, three hours, $90, and 851 reviews at 4.9. This is the listing that calls itself Europe’s biggest zipline park — again, the operator’s words.

The third line also flies from Bovec, under Kanin Mountain, with views of the Bovec Valley and the Julian Alps. At $78 for two and a half hours, this Bovec line is the lowest fare on this site. It shows 5.0, but on two reviews, and two reviews are far too thin to read as a verdict either way.

So the real decision is not between three ziplines in one place. It is between Zipline Dolinka at Bled and a separate day in a different valley.

Reviews

What 563 reviews do and do not prove

Scores are only as good as the number under them, and on these three listings that number runs from 851 down to 2.

Zipline Dolinka holds 4.9 from 563 reviews. That is a large enough count for the average to mean something, and it is the only well-populated score among the ziplines that fly at Bled — because it is the only listing that flies there.

It is not, however, the biggest pile of reviews on this site. The Bovec canyon park carries 851 reviews at the same 4.9, so the loudest crowd on these three pages is reviewing a line in the Soča Valley. Of the 1,416 reviews across all three listings, more than half belong to that one Bovec park, and exactly two belong to the Kanin line.

Which is why the score beside the Kanin line in Bovec is worth ignoring. A 5.0 built on two reviews is not a better rating than a 4.9 built on 563; it is barely a rating at all. When you read Zipline Dolinka reviews, or anyone else’s, read the count printed beside the score before you read the score.

Common questions

Zipline Dolinka: common questions

Where does Zipline Dolinka fly?

At Bled. The listing describes four kilometres of flying over the Sava Dolinka River on seven cables, with views of Triglav National Park. It is the one line of the three on this site that runs at Bled itself; the other two start from Bovec, in the Soča Valley.

How much does Zipline Dolinka cost?

$106 per person on the listing, for two and a half hours, which works out at $42.40 an hour. The two Bovec lines are cheaper — $90 for the Učja canyon park and $78 under Kanin Mountain — but both of those fly about 100 km from Bled.

How long does the Dolinka line take?

Two and a half hours from start to finish, the same length as the Kanin line in Bovec. The Učja canyon park, also in Bovec, is the long one at three hours. The listing does not break that time into briefing, walking and flying, so treat it as the whole outing.

Is it really the longest zipline in Europe?

The operator says so on the booking page, and that is as far as the evidence goes here: no measurement is published beside the claim. The Bovec canyon park makes a different European claim on its own page — biggest zipline park. Both are operators’ words, not verified figures.

Is there a zip line at Lake Bled itself?

Yes, this one. A zip line at Lake Bled means the Sava Dolinka cables: four kilometres, seven of them, with Triglav National Park in view. The other two Slovenian lines sold on this site are a drive away in Bovec, so a Bled zip line and a Bovec zipline are two different days.

What do the reviews say about Zipline Dolinka?

The listing shows 4.9 from 563 reviews, which is the best-supported score at Bled. The Bovec canyon park has more of them, 851, at the same 4.9. The Kanin line in Bovec shows 5.0 on two reviews, and two reviews say almost nothing, whichever way they point.

Which of the three ziplines is cheapest?

The Kanin line, at $78 for two and a half hours — and it flies from Bovec, not Bled, on two reviews. The Učja canyon park, also Bovec, is $90 with 851 reviews at 4.9. Zipline Dolinka at Bled is $106 with 563 reviews at 4.9.
